Rachel Lander works as an Occupational Therapist and Management Consultant in the U.K. We’ve had the great fortune of crossing her path online where she has a huge following. It has been interesting to watch how she navigates the world of social media with such grace and dignity. We’ve certainly learned by observation how she handles communication with her long list of followers. Social media communication takes special skill especially when dealing with the inevitability of cyber bullying.
We reached out to Rachel to discuss her work in behavioral health care but also to discuss what seems to be a hot topic these days: Cyber Bullying and dealing with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
We asked Rachel to give us a description of herself and her work which is included below:
“Hi my name is Rachel Lander. I am 46 and I am happy to say after many years I have finally found my niche. I have always been slightly unusual in my thinking. I was thinking out of the box even before it was fashionable. I did not seem to fit in any boxes in life so I made my own. I currently adore my work and I am very privileged and honored to look after patients in their final days. I work autonomously and also within a team and I have strong leanings towards my research topic of Dementia. I get tremendous pleasure from entering a world that is often closed off and lonely to Dementia sufferers and their families. I am a coordinator and a mediator. I have a person/client centered care approach. I am a Safe Guarder and promoter of Human Rights. I am a Promoter of Equality and Diversity. I have a strong desire to help make this world a better place in any way I can. I am a lover of the human race. I Strictly adhere to The Social Care Code of Conduct and The code of Ethics and Professional Conduct COT 2010. I have full HCPC Registration as a practicing Occupational Therapist. I am also an entrepreneur and have many connections and have lots of exciting projects on the go. I work closely with a London based company involved in commercial realty and money exchange and am also pursuing a project in Africa.”
We also asked Rachel to come up with a list of questions she would like asked on the show. Aside from enjoying her lovely accent (she is fluent in Greek, Spanish, French, and English), please listen in as we talk about this important topic.
What would you say is the cause of some of the problems we see today particularly in regards to our mental health?
Can you identify and specific topic you feel strongly about? Bullying
Have you been bullied?
How has this impacted in your online presence?
Has your experience highlighted any other issues?
Do you think you can overcome this issue? If so how?
What advice would you give to someone in the same situation?
