“Achieving the Pivot” with Pierce J. Brooks on Negotiate Your Best Life with Rebecca Zung #235
Do you have trouble getting stuck in negative thoughts or circumstances? Find yourself feeling stuck or like there’s no way out of your situation. Pierce J. Brooks has been there. He had to deal with his father’s suicide, losing basketball scholarships from 4 universities and even losing his day job as a result of Covid – 19. Through all of his adversities, he has learned to pivot his thoughts and his focus to stay positive and create his best life. He shares with Rebecca how he did it in this powerful, raw and real episode.
More About Pierce
With first-hand experience dealing with great loss and great recovery, Pierce J. Brooks is an empowerment speaker giving practical solutions for people to find meaning and lessons from trauma. As a former college athlete, Pierce was pressured to excel in basketball, ultimately playing at the Division I level. After losing scholarships and his father’s tragic suicide, he hit a personal rock bottom before age 20. Pierce responded with personal reflection, examination, and realignment of purpose. Most notably, Pierce shared his story in his TEDx speech “Playing the Game of Social Pressure.”
Pierce is currently speaking online and at in-person events. He has transformed his career experience at CPG brands and sports and entertainment firms into a foundation for helping people across the professional and personal spectrum. Pierce is a graduate of Dickinson State University and the university’s first-ever student commencement speaker. He credits his uncle, Bill Duffy, one of the most successful sports agents in the world, for his guidance and positive influence. Pierce enjoys horseback riding, collecting vinyl records, and sharing his empowerment journey.
On 28 May 2020, Pierce J. Brooks announced the launch of his flagship brand and company, Empowered Storytellers. The company will be a go-to resource for all things empowerment and encouragement, offering a slate of public speakers (including Brooks), multimedia content, connected community, structured self-help and teambuilding. Empowered Storytellers will feature athletes, artists, and thought-leaders who have taken the steps to overcome their own traumatic experiences or limiting beliefs to share their stories with individuals and organizations experiencing similar circumstances.
