Richard Schreiber is a successful technologist and innovator having built custom software systems for large corporations in corporate travel in his past. He is also the proud father of an autistic young adult, his 15-year-old daughter, who has become the inspiration for his autism advocacy work. First starting with the NYC Autism Community Group in New York City and now by creating the First Annual NYC Autism Tech, Innovation and Careers expo in his hometown, New York City on May 7th at Art & Design High School. Richard and his wife Maggie’s passion is to introduce as many holistic, technological, innovative, and career engaging opportunities for the families of New York City with autistic members and then around the country and ultimately the world.
The NYC Autism Tech Innovation and Careers Expo will combine influencers, contributors, and exhibitors that are doing some amazing work in the space of autism services and advocacy. It is the NYC Autism Community’s proud gift to the people of New York City, the greatest city in the world, for families and their members on the autism spectrum. It will focus on holistic, innovative, tech, and career opportunities. Our roster of speakers includes some of the greatest experts in the space and our panel discussions lead to conversations we should be having around how autism is perceived and how special our family members are with autism. And this is just the start; we are aiming to bring our expos to other markets in the US in addition to NYC and ultimately the rest of the world. We are creating a community of exhibitors, sponsors, and influencers who will expand and grow their own businesses helping each other to get the word out in a bigger way.
Here is our website for the fair which is on May 7th at Art & Design High School in Manhattan: www.nycautismexpo2022.com. Tickets through free must still go through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nyc-autism-tech-innovation-career-expo-tickets-264306657327
Talking points for the expo
* to bring technology, innovation, and career information and supports to the families in the NY Metro area and beyond (via the virtual platform)
* to have conversations around employment, language, a greater focus on solutions vs. research and cure
* To create an ecosystem or community of our providers, exhibitors, and sponsors to help them grow and expand their businesses. Our philosophy is if they win everybody wins, most importantly the families with autistic members they serve.
* The importance of mindset in raising or caring for family members on the autism spectrum
