Psychopathy Awareness II with Claudia Moscovici

Claudia Moscovici, founder of Psychopathy Awareness Blog (psychopathyawareness.wordpress.com) joins Andrea Schneider, LCSW today to discuss the prevalence of psychopathy and the covert nature of this form of psychological abuse. She shares with listeners her expertise on how the public can be informed and protected from psychopathic (and narcissistic) abuse.

Moscovici was born in Bucharest, Romania. At the age of 12, she immigrated with her family to the United States where she has gone on to obtain a B.A. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Brown University. Moscovici taught philosophy, literature and arts and ideas at Boston University and at the University of Michigan. Born in Bucharest, Romania, she writes from her experience of life in a totalitarian regime, which marked her deeply.

In 2002, she co-founded with Mexican sculptor Leonardo Pereznieto the international aesthetic movement called “Postromanticism”,[2] devoted to celebrating beauty, passion and sensuality in contemporary art. She wrote a book on Romanticism and its postromantic survival called Romanticism and Postromanticism, (Lexington Books, 2007) and taught philosophy, literature and arts and ideas at Boston University and at the University of Michigan. Most recently, she published a nonfiction book on psychopathic seduction, called Dangerous Liaisons (Hamilton Books, 2011) and a psychological thriller called The Seducer (forthcoming in March, 2012), which tells the story of a woman lured by a dangerous psychopathic predator.

School Shootings: Psychopaths, Not People with Asperger’s Syndrome

Andrea Schneider, MSW and host of The Savvy Shrink discusses school shootings and why it is vitally important to recognize a correct diagnostic profile. Her guest is Dr. Marcia Eckerd who has been in practice as a licensed psychologist since 1985. She was appointed by the State Legislature of CT to serve on the Autism Spectrum Disorder Advisory Council, and on the Clinical Advisory Committee of the Aspergers and Autism Association of New England. She helped establish the Yale-Norwalk Hospital collaboration Pediatric Development and Therapy Center. 

She trained extensively in psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mind-body medicine, neuropsychological testing and EMDR both for children and adults. As Director of Clinical Programs of the New Learning Therapy Center, she created a social skills program as well as continuing education program for professionals. She has written several articles which are featured on PsychCentral.

Emilia’s therapeutic work incorporates various traditional indigenous wisdom, and eastern wellness teachings along with evidence based psychotherapy techniques such as CBT and DBT. Navigating Court Proceedings When Your Partner is an Abuser

Kara Bellew has been practicing family law exclusively since 2005. She understands that the court system can be overwhelming and has helped countless clients navigate it successfully.
