NEW to MHNR Network!  Anxiously Okay Hosted by Alec Baynes

Anxiously Okay with Alec Baynes hosting a podcast dedicated to anxiety sufferers and those that love them as they learn to both manage and thrive while living with anxiety.

“If someone listens to my podcast and feels less alone with their anxiety, then I did my job.” – Alec Baynes

Alec Baynes began his podcast with the vision of helping listeners understand that you don’t have to live your life as though your anxiety is a defect. He brings a unique and youthful perspective on the topic of living with anxiety. His vision is that his listeners feel less alone living with their anxiety from the perspective of one who suffers himself.

As a young adult in today’s society, we expect them to be capable of managing work, family, friends, school, and more as though life is the same as it was 50 years ago. Today’s young adults are living in an age of chaos, and it’s completely understandable when some live with anxiety. Alec brings his experiences living with anxiety before having found therapy as well as all of the tools he has learned since turning to professional help. He aims to share both his experiences as well as his self-care tools that help him manage daily life.

About Mental Health News Radio Network

Mental Health News Radio Network hosts over 90 podcasts dedicated to all aspects of mental health. It is the world’s first and largest podcast network dedicated to all things mental health. Its Speakers’ Bureau and filmed series such as Mixed Nuts: Comedians and Mental Health allow it to further its mission to reach as many people in as many places as possible to encourage dialogue about mental health.

About Alec Baynes

Alec Baynes is 24 years old and works as an Advertisement Evaluator and Medical Transcriber, both work from home positions. He spent most of his life believing that his anxiety was a defect and exclusive to himself. He lives with anxiety, is not a doctor or a therapist, but rather, he uses his personal experiences in helping his listeners. As a Communications major in college, he always felt more akin to writing than speaking, and his podcast is one more tool that helps him confront his own anxiety. He enjoys video games, movies, writing, puzzles, family, and friends.

NEW to MHNR Network: The Funky Brain Podcast Hosted by Dennis Berry Guiding You Toward a Better, Sober Life!

Using the ancient proverb, “When is the best time to plant a tree? Twenty years ago. When is the second-best time to plant a tree? Today.” Dennis Berry and The Funky Brain Podcast is here to help show that no matter how far into the abyss you appear to be, there is always a way out.

“It’s about growing up. Looking the world in the eye. Facing all of the challenges that life throws at you head-on. There is always a solution and as long as you’re sober, you have a chance to tackle any problem at any given time.” – Dennis Berry

Dennis came to podcasting as a way to provide information and help to more people and take his life coaching to the next level. Dennis brings with him 18 years of sobriety and an overall entertaining way of approaching life, addiction, and mental health. He is able to gain insight from speaking to people from all walks of life and around the world to not only help his listeners but also use what he learns and apply it within his business as well.

Dennis looks for engaging guests of all types, from professional athletes and Emmy award-winning entertainers to mental health professionals, in order to provide unique, inspiring, and motivational stories for his listeners. Dennis helps his listeners understand that there ARE solutions if you keep an open mind and learn to ask for help. He provides episodes to help with all aspects of life: mental health, addiction, relationships, life mastery, and financial problems to name a few.

Having lived an exciting and decadent lifestyle in his younger years, the ‘fun’ and ‘excitement’ eventually led to pain and suffering. After 15 years of substance abuse, Dennis reached that point he says is referred to as “the gift of desperation,” when he was finally in enough pain to listen to others and begin to make some changes in his life. He was not only financially bankrupt, but physically, emotionally, and spiritually bankrupt as well. He had hit rock bottom. He spent 30 days in a Colorado rehab facility, learning to understand addiction and about the types of solutions needed to make true change and get his life back on the right path.

Dennis realized early on that sobriety requires changes in all areas of life, and began changing his friends, diet, hangouts, and interests. Some changes were made immediately, some over a period of time, and some changed without the conscious decision to do so. Dennis points out that the longer you stay sober, the more life will unfold for you. Since becoming sober, he’s become an athlete, family man, author, public speaker, business owner, and mentor to thousands of people, something he would have never thought possible.

NEW to MHNR Network – Intuition Physician UPdates Hosted by Laura Koniver, MD, a Physician Who Threw Out the Old Model of Treating Patients.

Intuition Physician UPdates, New From Laura Koniver, MD Who Helps Combine Traditional Medicine With Holistic Care That Treats the Body as a Whole. Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Am I an artist? Am I a physician? Am I a mother? Am I a soul?

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes.

And I am happily blurring the lines between all four each day.

– Laura Koniver, MD

Laura Koniver, MD, a general medical practitioner by training, always keeps her eyes open for new and interesting holistic healing breakthroughs based on legitimate medical studies.  Intuition Physician UPdates, her podcast, is NEW to Mental Health News Radio Network.  Each episode aims to highlight a medical study, explained by Laura, and provide insightful, easy, and actionable tips that can be put into place within listeners’ daily lives. Pulling from her knowledge of both traditional medicine and alternative medical approaches she aims to treat the body as a whole, which is known to improve both mental and physical health.  Laura provides her listeners with an uplifting and easy takeaway, directly from a holistic physician, that improves their life without having to read and interpret the medical literature themselves.

Grounding and Shielding are a couple of practices that traditional medicine looks past.  Grounding is how to harness the earth’s ‘good’ electrical impulses, while shielding includes ways to shield our bodies against the more harmful radiation and man-made EMF’s (electromagnetic frequencies) that are ever-increasing in our world.  Laura conveyed that one of her biggest takeaways from Medical School is how conductive we are, being made up of  60% water.  We use electronic monitoring to monitor the heart (ECG), brain (EEG), and muscles (EMG), We continue to live in an ever-increasingly manufactured world in which many people can go far too long without actually touching the earth, our docking station that boosts and protects our conductive health. Why does traditional medicine ignore this huge piece of the puzzle of overall wellness that affects us both physically and mentally?  On the flip-side, because we are so highly conductive and rely on proper electrical function to be healthy, it is imperative to protect our conductive health by shielding it from the man-made electrical fields.  The simple activity of consistent grounding can allow for various benefits such as reducing depression, lowering stress and blood pressure, and often simply increasing happiness.

Laura brings her vast knowledge from both traditional and alternative medicine to provide helpful insight that can even fit into a 21st-century life.

About Laura Koniver, MD

After the life-changing experience of motherhood gave Laura Koniver, MD, currently a holistic physician and traditionally trained general practitioner, an entirely new outlook at wellness she left traditional medicine and branched into a new way of practicing focusing on the body as a whole combining traditional practices with alternative holistic approaches based on medical science.  As a mother of two and a soon to be empty-nester, she recently published her 4th and favorite book, The Earth Prescription, a family-friendly book full of hundreds of ideas on how to incorporate grounding into even busy daily routines.  You can find her book on Amazon as well as on her website: https://www.intuition-physician.com/

NEW Podcast to MHNR Network:  Timeout for Mental Health for Men and Their Mental Health with Tim Krass

Tim Krass brings listeners Timeout For Mental Health,  his new podcast helping men find help with understanding that often anger, violence, and substance abuse are frequently driven by unmanaged mental health issues and how to seek help.

“The key point with this book and podcast is that my harrowing, dramatic personal story weaves its way throughout the book. I lived with depression, suicide attempts, and have studied masculinity for more than thirty-seven years. My diagnosed condition of severe depressive disorder that is recurring was the reason that I abused marijuana, that I had the knife in my hand in order to slit my wrists and bleed out. This condition ruined my business and personal relationships and retarded my growth as a human being. My condition was a factor in causing my heart attack as well as expanding the size of my ego, which stopped me from having a relationship with God, which limits the quality of life, I believe.” – Tim Krass.

The WHO (World Health Organization) specifies that approximately 300 million suffer from depression worldwide, but that only half ever receive treatment.  Too often men do not seek help for what are legitimate health issues.  The stigma attached to mental health that exists within our society and our social norms do not lend to men seeking help.  Statistically, of those who do receive treatment, 90% find an improvement to their issue (CNN).

Tim and his guests bring their personal experiences to the table to help other men begin their path to improving their mental health. Using past experiences with addiction and depression combined with his focus on positive masculinity, Tim strives to help other men understand that quite often their anger, hatred, violence, fighting, substance abuse can all be manifestations of unchecked mental health issues as well as an unhealthy view of what masculinity truly is.  Both of these can lead to unhealthy relationships, difficulties at work, and even legal issues.

Tim Krass is here to help men understand his key points:

  1. Depression plays a serious health risk in a man’s life.
  2. Risky behavior, frequently driven by addictions, is often driven by unchecked depression stemming from internal feelings and emotions that are not being managed.
  3. How to deal with anger, hatred, violence, fighting, domestic violence, rape, and suicidal ideations.
  4. Today’s masculinity norms are a deterrent to a man’s health, happiness, and most relationships.
  5. What healthy masculinity really is and is not, and how to live life with honor, courage, and ruthless compassion.
  6. How to have trusting relationships with other men.
  7. *The utmost necessity to have the courage to ask for help.
  8. *Men are human and have feelings and emotions like everyone else.  It is okay to share these feelings and emotions with the right people, at the right time, and in the right place.
  9. *Where to get help for mental health issues, depression, masculinity issues, and suicidal ideations.
  10.  Life is in session 24/7/365, and any circumstance CAN be handled with help.  Risky behaviors and a show of force is many times unnecessary and that you DON’T have to swallow your gun!
  11. A life of health and happiness is available for everyone.

* Notably the most important

NEW to MHNR Network! Transpired With Seth Carlson, a Podcast to Help Those Within the Transgender Community

Mental Health News Radio Network Welcomes Transpired With Seth Carlson, a Podcast to Help the Transgender Community and Those that Love Them.

“Everyone deserves to feel validated in their struggles, and everyone deserves to not feel like a burden or an outcast. I want to use my voice and platform to inform and provide insight so that life can be a little easier through their journey. I want to let those parents know, to let those questioning their gender know, that I’ve been through this, and they can absolutely get through it too. Happiness is on the other side of this.” – Seth Carlson

After the mother of a client had an incredible emotional impact on Seth Carlson he decided to begin his podcast, Transpired.  His client’s mother shared her tears of joy after her own transgender child used the tools he had learned from Seth to successfully make it through a very rough and suicidal time.  Seth’s goal is to gain a broader reach and help as many people that are struggling and questioning their gender, their parents, and anyone who just wants to understand a little bit more.  As a life coach and mentor to those within the transgender community, Seth uses his own life experiences and everything he’s learned while mentoring within the community to help others know that they are not alone and that they can get through this.

Seth feels that the most important thing that cisgender individuals (those that identify with their born gender) need to try to understand that it’s more than just a label. Being transgender comes with some of the most difficult mental health struggles imaginable. He wishes to use his knowledge and experience to help those struggling with their own issues.

NEW to MHNR Network: The Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross Show – Helping Your Relationship with Food, Your Body, and Your Past

Finding Peace with Food and Your Body by Learning How Past Trauma Makes an Impact, with Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross.

“Eating disorders impact so many, taking years from their lives and also while alive, occupying so much of their time and energy. I feel that eating disorders are used as a solution to the problem of unhealed trauma, abuse or neglect. When in fact, food can’t fix trauma, abuse, or neglect.“ – Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross

Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross is new to MHNR Network with her podcast, “The Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross Show,” which focuses on binge eating, food addiction, emotional eating, and the relationship to unresolved trauma. Food addiction is unique in that it requires sufferers to learn how to maintain a healthy relationship with their ‘drug’ of choice, food. An alcoholic or drug addict is able to try to avoid their drug of choice.  Food Addiction is more complicated than that. Those that suffer with unhealthy food relationships understand exactly how difficult this can be.

Dr. Coker Ross brings with her vast knowledge working with those suffering from addictions and eating disorders to the public with her podcast. Her goal is to help educate listeners about the in’s and out’s of binge eating disorder, food addiction, and emotional eating. She’s here trying to help those whose lives have been ‘hijacked’ by binge eating, emotional eating and food addiction. The drive to be thin, or using food to push down unwanted emotions can be helped. There is a correlation between past traumas and many unhealthy eating behaviors. Beginning the path to healing the trauma can help on the road to a healthy relationship with food.

NEW to MHNR Network:  Pivot Work Podcast with Elizabeth Belliveau!

Elizabeth Belliveau brings us Pivot Work, a podcast to help normalize the need to adapt in life.  Pivot Work is all about those moments of our lives in which we decide to pause and reevaluate, pivot, and reinvent ourselves.

“So many of us fall into the trap of ‘good for always’ versus ‘good for now’, as I call it in therapy. Or we feel as though if something works for a while, it will always work. That’s simply not true. Our lives, needs, goals, plans, and work changes throughout our lives. So many of us become debilitated by this, and I want people to see pivot moments as moments of hope.” – Elizabeth Belliveau

Feeling creatively stifled by the limits the pandemic had placed on this year, Elizabeth Belliveau has taken the year and all of its changes in tow as she is trying to make some changes herself in how she finds ways to reach out to help others. She has noted a common theme within clients and colleagues that many are having to find ways to reinvent themselves in an ever-changing world. While this is incredibly important, it is also difficult work for anyone who finds themselves having to make life changes as change is often full of anxiety and uncertainty.  She wants people to remember that we all have the innate resilience to overcome even the most difficult obstacles.

Elizabeth finds great value in helping others share their stories of reflection, change, and the hard work that goes into it. She is trying to help, on a broad scale, anyone who is needing to reinvent themselves in ways that require imagination and resilience.  Hearing how others have navigated their lives during these moments of reflection and ‘Pivots’ within their lives can help remind us that we aren’t alone.  The stories to be featured on Pivot Work will remind us that we all have choices and can rise above the uncertainties, the setbacks, and the trajectory changes.
