Exploring Good Memories Restores Your Hope, Optimism and Creativity
When we have been traumatized in childhood and as adults in marriages to narcissistic personalities, our memories are saturated with pain and dread. The imprint of deprivation and abuse etches deep.
Healing psychological wounds in the aftermath of the narcissistic personality is our destiny and journey. One of the most valuable practices that you can use to activate the restorative, healing process is the exploration of good memories. These are epic experiences or more often, small moments hat re infused with beauty, calm, radiance and mystery.
Exploring good memories heals neuronal pathways and puts you in the oceanic flow, the parasympathetic state.
Allow your mind and imagination to open and release the memory or impression without effort, critic or editing. The colors, aromas, textures, energies, sounds flower in you and expand effortlessly.
Memories are tucked away but they emerge when we let down and invite them to reveal themselves.
Last night I remembered and relived a visit to an iconic Farmers Market I visited as a small child My senses were saturated with the vivid multiple colors and textures of small mountains of fruits and vegetable, spices and herbs.
I was lifted up by an adult so that I could view the individual wooden stalls, glass cases and counters filled with tantalizing treats and foods that looked like works of art. I spied myriad shapes and sizes of handmade breads – sour dough, wheat, rye, raisin, every kind, coming piping hot out of the ovens.
Nearby the cakes of every color, texture and shape appeared with ribbons of frosting delighted the eye.
The pies appears at another booth – apple, cherry, boysenberry, pear, banana cream, peach, apricot, strawberry and mile high lemon meringue, smiling at me.
The memory of this joyous experience lingers in my mind, calming and healing, fulfilling the promise of beauty and grace.
The power of positive memories is great and available to us
We can elaborate on our good memories. They live within us. We are not the sum total of traumas, losses, regrets and wounds. Rather, there are parts of the psyche and spirit, unexplored territories you discover.
This is an ever-present gift that we can use at any time and place as we invite them to reveal themselves – This is the pure gracious gift to you from the spirit.
