What is Suicide Nation?

Suicide is a national crisis. The CDC reports that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death, and, the 2nd leading cause of death for people ages 15-24. Suicide rates have increased nearly 30% in the past 10 years with some of the highest rates occurring in rural communities. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention data indicates that 47,173 Americans died by suicide in 2017 – 123 suicides per day. This country’s narrative on suicide and suicide prevention lacks the candid, authentic and in-depth dialogue needed for increased understanding and real change. Suicide Nation will provide honest and compassionate conversations about suicide and suicide prevention efforts across the United States. Facilitated by a Clinical Psychologist and Suicidologist, Dr. I will invite the more difficult and nuanced discussions necessary to navigate the complexities of suicide and build an informed community of hope.
