167 – Cédric Lebigre – From Shamanic Experience to Hypnosis, NLP, and Binaural Beats

Cédric Lebigre, an NLP practitioner, hypnotist, and musician living and working in France, scores his truth bombs with beats. If you’re binaural beat curious, fascinated by music and science, or want to cultivate a better understanding of what Shamanism is (and isn’t), welcome to a conversation with its own soundtrack.

I’ve been listening to Cédric’s work via Insight Timer for a while now. There’s a science as to why this “brainwave entertainment” makes my mind happy: it’s feel-good music, elevated. He employs specific structures in his compositions, creating patterns that allow listeners to settle in deep enough that they experience a trance-like state (been there!).

Binaural beats are potent allies in reducing gamma waves (faster) and increasing alpha waves (slower), but you don’t have to geek out on the science behind the sounds to benefit. Some of Cédric’s music has a Shamanistic quality (think rhythmic drumming) thanks to his training in that sacred space. He’s quick to rebuff anyone who burdens him with that title, or that of a healer. The language and cultural differences of being French add an interesting dimension to the healer/wounded healer questions.

No spoilers! Instead, I’ll say that, ultimately, we heal ourselves; It’s not about what is done to us. That’s a significant shift within me lately, recognizing that nothing outside of me will do the work; I have to do it internally.

Of course, a binaural beat soundtrack helps make lighter work of all that healing.

The Feeling of Being Limited – Especially Financially -TPS472

In today’s episode, I explore the idea of feeling limited, which I see as a corollary to feeling oppressed. I relate this to feeling financially limited. There are other emotions that can be part of feeling limited such as powerless.

Highlights

I recognize that when I don’t have the funds I think I need, I feel limited. People often feel limited financially.
The glass ceiling is a feeling of limitation.
Limitations can be external or internal. I explain.
What are your physical limitations?
When you face physical limitations, you have to decide if you want to push through or not.
The internal limitations can be on the feeling level, such as feeling tight or constrained, which might be expressed as “money is tight”.
What do you perceive is your limitations, and is there some action you can take to work through those limitations and feel more expanded?
Ask, “what would I rather be feeling other than limited?”
If you recognize that you need more people, ask the question, “How can I connect to more people in a meaningful way?”
When you want to connect to more people, it’s often necessary to overlook your differences and to look for the similarities.
For now, I’m hoping that you will take some time to get in touch with the feeling of being limited.
I have found that when you get in touch with the feelings of limitation that come from difficult childhood experiences or abuse, then you can move past those feelings and expand to a different place of consciousness.
If you’re seeking financial freedom, then you have to learn how to feel free.
Are you willing to go through the process of making the internal changes that are necessary to live the life of your dreams?
Making the necessary changes is easier if you work with someone else. In this day and age, trying to do it alone just isn’t a good idea.
Once you set your intention, then what you need will show up. You just have to recognize it when it shows up.
Just focusing on money is not going to get you where you have to go. Focusing on feeling goals will make a big difference.
I talk about the energy tune-ups I do.

Andrea Austin: An Exploration into Conscious Awareness -TPS 471

Andrea Austin is the Co-founder of My Conscious Wellness and Love Evolution, two organizations that deal with the expansion of conscious awareness through love. They use advanced consciousness-based technologies designed to balance and harmonize the subtle energy fields of the human form so people can easily let go of emotions, mental and physical traumas, and uncomfortable experiences.

Highlights

Andrea started out as an accountant. She shares how she switched to exploring conscious awareness after having an out-of-body experience.
She learned to trust that whatever came along was in her best interest.
Andrea began seeing the world with her inner eyes more than she had before.
In exploring what makes her happy, Andrea had to deconstruct previous concepts of what life was supposed to be.
There was a transitionary time when she had to understand that what she was seeing was not seen by everyone. She has learned to accept people where they are and not have expectations that are unrealistic.
Andrea hopes to show people that you can live in expanded consciousness and still be grounded in so-called reality.
There is a growing movement of people who are interested in learning how to cross between the two worlds.
Learn how to be an observer from a place of neutrality.
We talk about accepting our differences with other people rather than just searching for sameness.
I ask Andrea how she teaches people to be satisfied with who they are and where they are.
Andrea talks about the technologies that she and her partner use to help people develop expanded awareness.
Going from A to Z doesn’t necessarily mean you’re moving in a straight line.

166 – Dr. Margo Jacquot – Healing Childhood Misattunement and the Complexity of Grieving a Parent’s Death

Grief, especially for those experiencing the death of a parent who may have neglected, abused, ignored, or invalidated them, is complex and contradictory. Margo Jacquot, PsyD, agrees. We flip the script on standard responses to loss, explore the gifts and grind associated with addressing our wounds as therapists and discover a mutual fascination for a particular taxicab medium.

For those whose childhoods were marked by difficult dynamics or unsafe experiences, there’s a lot to unpack after the death of that parent. Emotions like anger, rage, and relief are as valid (if not more so) than the tidier, expected responses like grief and sadness.

Healing early developmental wounds is a lifelong process. As a child, Margo’s misattunement expressed itself physically in the form of stomach cramps. Her mother sent her to a therapist and those three sessions, brief as they were, changed the course of Margo’s life. Today, she provides others with the same opportunity to feel heard and safely explore resolutions to their challenges.

GUEST BIO

Dr. Margo Jacquot is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She is a national lecturer on trauma recovery, behavioral issues, LGBTQ issues, and working with couples. Dr. Jacquot is the founder and Chief Care Officer of The Juniper Center, one of the largest woman-owned counseling and therapy practices across Chicagoland, with over 40 clinicians at 5 locations and via telehealth. Margo also has a new Podcast – Mental Health Business Mentor.

The Value of Allowing Life to Happen Through You – TPS470

I recently watched an interview on C-SPAN with Ursula Burns, the first Black female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. I was impressed with her ability to allow life to happen through her rather than working hard to make it happen. A great example of synchronicity.

Highlights

Brought up in a poor neighborhood, Ursula’s mother never let the kids know that they were poor.
I talk about how Ursula let her life happen rather than pushing toward a goal. The fact that she could not have conceived of being a CEO of a large company worked in her favor. I expand on this.
When you get yourself into the place where you allow your life to happen, you’ll get what you need to become who you are becoming.
It’s important to be satisfied with where you are and what you have and believe that what you need will show up but it will probably take longer than you want.
Problems and concerns are part of your journey.
I talk about the oppression that is prevalent in our society and relate something I went through via Microsoft that allowed me to feel controlled and powerless.
If you can recognize the situations when you feel controlled – or oppressed – it will allow you to process those feelings and not hold onto them.
When you hold things in rather than expressing them, it’s hard to let them go. It helps to talk to people about what’s bothering you – without kvetching.
Working through your emotions allows you to move your life comfortably forward.

Udo Erasmus: Everything You’re Looking For Is Already Inside of You – TPS469

Udo Erasmus is the co-founder of Udo’s Choice line of health products. He designed the machinery for making oils with health in mind and pioneered flax oil, a billion-dollar industry. Pesticide poisoning in 1980 left Udo’s doctors at a loss regarding treatment so he decided to take his health into his own hands.

His research and discoveries led him to a passion for finding the answers to life’s big questions. Udo is an acclaimed speaker and author of many books, including the best-selling Fats That Heal Fats That Kill. He teaches at events hosted by Tony Robbins and Deepak Chopra, has given live presentations, interviews, and training in over 30 countries and has impacted more than 25 million lives with his message about health, peace, nature, and human nature. Udo has an extensive education in biochemistry, genetics, biology, and nutrition, psychology.

Highlights

Because he was born in the 1940s, during the war, the overwhelming uncertainty led him to be very curious. He explains.
What you are deep down looking for is already inside of you.
Udo gives suggestions for how to get in touch with the place within your heart that knows what’s right for you.
Being is more important than doing.
Your real purpose is found internally.
When the heart aches, people often turn to distractions. By focusing on success on the outside, we are trying to fix the hurt that is on the inside.
If you feel restless, you don’t have to do something, you need to sit still.
Your emotional state determines how you see and relate to the world. Peace has always been there, but if you’re not looking for it, you won’t recognize that it’s there.
When you’re in a place of peace and taking care of your inner needs, it’s easier to build a business.
When you feel cared for, you can flow with life.

165 – Rahim Thawer – Affirming Marginal Experiences and Advocating From Within the System

What happens when two ENFJs come together for a light chat? An illuminating conversation about a life lived in the margins, creating spaces for genuine bodily autonomy, and engaging in revolutionary acts within the confines of the current therapeutic system.

Rahim Thawer, MSW RSW, is a queer Muslim social worker, psychotherapist, consultant, clinical supervisor, sessional lecturer and writer living, working, and organizing in Canada. He’s especially interested in supporting communities or agencies that serve LGBTQ folks and people affected by HIV, groups that often overlap with newcomers to Canada.

Rahim is a natural at welcoming others and appreciating the right everyone has to express their individuality. Much of Rahim’s work, whether that’s in session with clients or alone at his laptop, working on multiple books simultaneously, is dedicated to exploring and centering experiences currently deemed outside the norm.

His desire to lend language to support those experiences extends beyond LGBTQIA+ issues to the complexities surrounding suicidality as it relates to chronic or terminal illness, to people’s needs, and how to center their decision-making power around their bodies and their fate. His insight reminds me that if we were all to tune into these frequencies for ourselves – specifically instances where we might have considered suicide – we would be able to hold so much more space for others.

GUEST BIO

Rahim Thawer MSW, RSW is a queer Muslim social worker, psychotherapist, consultant, clinical supervisor, sessional lecturer and writer. He is interested in the intersection of mental health and systemic oppression as well as innovation in queer men’s relationships.

Your Money Words Will Affect Your Financial Outcome – TPS468

What are the words you use when you’re talking to yourself or others about your money? In this episode, I explore various money words that you may be using that could be holding you back with your money and in your life.

Highlights

Whatever you are telling yourself is what your subconscious will believe is true and will work to make it true.
Worrying about money has nothing to do with how much money you have.
What are your thinking habits about your money?
Growing up, what were the words you heard about money and was it enough?
What happens when you think about using the word enough?
Do you say things like, “I can’t afford that,” or “I haven’t got enough money for that”? Or, are you willing to say, “I’m choosing not to do that today”?
If you can perceive yourself as having enough, then you’re more apt to have enough.
If you are always focusing on what you don’t have, then it’s hard to create more.
What are the words you use to describe your financial situation?
Are you developing authentic relationships with other people so you can both share what’s going on for you?
The money doesn’t matter, the connections you experience do matter.
Think about the words you use to describe your money, your life, your relationships. You get to choose the words you want to use to describe everything in your life, including your money.
I talk about experiments that have been done with water and other substances where words have affected the quality of whatever was used.
Are you willing to look at what you’re creating in your life with the words that you were using?
Take a look at the words you are using and decide if those words are helping you create a positive life and business.
Do you have people in your life with home you can discuss what’s bothering you, not from a place of complaining but rather looking for solutions?
Your expectations are defining what you’re probably going to create, and the words you use help to define those expectations.
