The Truth Will Set You Free

Scott was also a two-time NCAA National Champion in the Hammer throw event event of Track & Field, and went on to compete in two Olympic Trials. Set on making the Team in his 3rd Olympic Trials, Scott was derailed when a tragic accident turned him into a quadriplegic. Paralyzed from the neck down, he was told he would never walk again. But, with the help of his coach, Scott designed his own recovery program and defied the odds, and walked out of the hospital just 6 weeks later. Since then, Scott has been inspiring audiences and coaching clients the world over with his tale of triumph and transformation. In his TEDx talk titled “The Truth Will Set You Free,” Scott finally publicly shared the dark secret he’d hidden for 18 years about his emotional journey, and is here
today to share his story to raise awareness and talk about practical solutions for mental health and suicide prevention.

This episode is not intended as a substitute for professional care. Rather, it’s a review of 10 tools I find helpful as part of my self-care and support system as I do my best to navigate living with BPD.
