Is HIPAA Compliancy in Behavioral Health Boring? Not On Our Show!

HIPAA, HITECH, Omnibus,  PCI regulations – these are words that can strike fear into the heart of any Behavioral Health organization.  They don’t need to as we found after speaking with our guest today on Mental Health News Radio.  We sat down with Marc Haskelson, the President and CEO of Compliancy Group, to find out how easy compliance can be.

Read the full article HERE.

What is the difference between HIPAA and Meaningful  Use (MU) ?

Do I have to attest for Meaningful Use?  What If I don’t attest?

Who is considered a Vendor or a Business Associate?

I am now accepting Medicare, does that put me at a higher risk for an audit just like everyone else?

If I completed a Risk Assessment last year, do I have to do it again this year?

Is there an insurance policy available that helps an entity with HIPAA  fines?

What triggers an audit?  How do they know that they should audit you?

Has your software solution ever been involved where an actual audit was being done by either CMS or OCR?

If an EHR vendor or billing agency, as an example, are not following HIPAA compliance where can one go to report these actions?

Dragons to Butterflies: The Metamorphosis of a Man with Johnnie Calloway

Johnnie Calloway grew up in a small town in Kentucky, with the population at around 11,000. His mother passed when he was only five, leaving him to grow up with an angry, alcoholic, sexually confused father.

Johnnie was born into a reputation that he never wanted but was obligated to live up to. Still, Johnnie always wanted to be the “good guy.” The conflict between his personal desire and his sense of obligation to his dad’s/family’s reputation created a great torment that was oddly accompanied with an insatiable yearning to learn.

Eventually, Johnnie became a seeker of truth. And has now devoted himself to sharing what his seeking has taught him with others. He has written two books, “Taming the Dragon” and Dragons to Butterflies: The Metamorphosis of a Man, and is currently working on, “Within the Chrysalis, It’s an Inside Job”.

A Naked Thinking Approach To Motivating Yourself and Others

For more than twenty-five years, Phil D’Agostino, a licensed therapist, life coach, and personal-development specialist, has spoken to thousands of individuals about what makes them miserable and stops them from achieving their greatest life goals. Almost always, it boils down to a single fact: they know what to do and even how to do what it takes to be happier or more effective, but their own emotions stop them in their tracks.

In Naked Thinking, D’Agostino explains his concept of thinking critically without the wet blanket of emotions stifling you. He outlines practical techniques that will energize your soul, help you take greater control of how you feel, and find the power and will within yourself to live a life by design and without regrets. He includes specific strategies for:

•improving the way you think;

•taking greater control of your emotional control panel;

•making the most of your life and all its vagaries;

•improving your relationships with your loved ones, children, boss, customers;

•focusing the power or your mind and what you already know to make great decisions that really work;

•becoming more self-confident to speak to groups and present your ideas to management and others; and

•taking greater control over your depression or anxiety disorder and just be happier.

Through real-life examples, Naked Thinking illustrates how to tame your emotions so you can focus your abilities and become more effective in decision-making and implementation, find the power within yourself, and become the master of your own life plan. Visit www.NakedThinking.Com.

Rob Lohman is the Founder of Lifted From The Rut. Rob is an Interventionist and Addiction Recovery Coach. Since his sobriety date of June 8, 2001, Rob has learned a great deal about trials and believing that there is a great blessing on the other side of each trial….even though some of the trials of life can seem hopeless at times. When He went from hating the image in the mirror, to loving the image and the potential within, a huge paradigm shift happened.

Rob has definitely made errors in sobriety, but it is in those life lessons he discovered his calling to help others regain the hope in themselves that they too were created for a great purpose in life. To restore hope in others and to help lift them from their life ruts that seem to have stolen their confidence in who they are. Rob says “God does not make junk!”

As a father of two precious children, the husband of an amazing woman who chose me to be her life partner, a committed man to follow God’s leading in his life, and believer that anyone can change their path in life to discover and become their best, Rob is committing his life to help others love themselves again through this journey called Lifted From the Rut!
