Dr. Barry Weinhold- Developmental Tauma

In 1971, Barry founded the Counseling & Human Services Program in the College of Education at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. One of Jennifer’s donations with HealthGenYZ was to co-executive produce a web series created by and starring extremely talented young adults called Generation Z web series found on YouTube. The series follows 5 teens in a therapy support group addressing issues prevalent in teens today such as anxiety, depression, anger, bulimia, and familial stress.

Before starting HealthGenYZ, Jennifer has worked for over 15 years in the health and employee benefits industry. Currently, she also works with employers to reduce overall healthcare costs and increase workplace productivity by engaging employees in cost-saving behaviors with HooPayz. She also continues to run a prescription assistance program called Oregon Rx Card that donates back to Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals. Jennifer also enjoys cooking, reading, listening to podcasts, audiobooks and playing with her dog.

Gordon & Stacie- Family Work in Recovery

Gordon Woods (Mentor Team Leader) and Stacie Lucius ( Chief of Clinical Services) work for WestBridge Treatment Center in New Hampshire. WestBridge is a non-profit organization that specializes in the treatment of co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. WestBridge provides both residential treatment and community-based outpatient treatment for adult men with dual disorders using evidence-based practices that have been proven to work.

How to talk about school shootings with your kids.

After 25 years of active service, Major Gallagher finally had the opportunity to begin his teaching career. He took a position as a high school math teacher and change his title to Mr. Gallagher. While teaching he became concerned about the policies and procedures around school shooting and felt there was a better way. He began researching all aspects of this issue. Using his math background, he dove into statistical analysis of the shootings and then began researching the psychology and sociology behind these events. Finally, his research included laws regarding information sharing about ‘at risk’ students among school administrators and teachers, finding major errors in the understanding of the law by administrators, limiting the sharing of information, putting endangering staff and students. Based on his research Joe is now writing a book to share his findings, with the hope of improving school security and improving mental health support to at-risk students. Joe and Aaron speak frankly about HOW to talk to children about gunmen in their schools.

Linda Hurley- One Size DOESN’T Fit All

Linda Hurley has worked in substance abuse treatment and behavioral healthcare for more than 25 years. She has been with CODAC since 1991 and, in 2016, was named CODAC’s President/CEO. Under Ms. Hurley’s leadership, CODAC was the first Opioid Treatment Program in the nation to receive Health Home certification and the first OTP in RI to be designated as a Center of Excellence.

Ms. Hurley has been a leader in working to effect policy change in RI, serving on numerous boards and coalitions. She has also been called as a consultant for state and federal agencies, including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Admin. (SAMHSA) and the United States Senate.

Dr. Mike McGee – It’s Love

Dr. McGee is currently the Chief Medical Officer of The Haven, a psychiatric treatment facility located in the Central Coast of California that specializes in the treatment of addictions.

Dr. McGee is Board Certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine. He has extensive experience in addictions treatment and general adult psychiatry. Dr. McGee is also the author of “The Joy of Recovery: A Comprehensive Guide to Healing from Addiction.”
