Introducing NeuroDiverse Christian Couples

Listen in as Kristin talks to Dr. Stephanie Holmes and her husband, Dan Holmes, as they discuss their journey of having a child diagnosed on the spectrum and, in time, Dan diagnosed as an adult.  Dr. Holmes has previously been the host of Springbrook’s Converge Autism Radio podcast here on Mental Health News Radio Network. Get to know them both as they introduce their new podcast, NeuroDiverse Christian Couples.  Within this show they share their goals of building connection and communication about their life’s journey together as they navigate challenges that come with neurodiverse relationships.
Dr. Holmes seeks to bring restoration and spiritual renewal to individuals and couples facing challenging situations. By combining affordable rates with a desire to glorify God in all that transpires through the counseling/coaching process, she offers life-changing hope to troubled lives. Through the International Association of NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages, LLC she wants to educate and equip others to build effective strategies for NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages.

Dan Holmes believes there is no greater office one can hold than that of a husband and father. Since both roles require complicated interplay on many levels, Dan also believes God has provided help through the leading of the Holy Spirit, the counsel of others, and the work of life coaches.

Dr. Michael Miller: Medication Assisted Treatment For Stimulant Addiction

Dr. Miller has determined that one category of meth user is a person who goes through life without adequate energy to complete tasks related to their activities of daily living. They found that self-treating their lack of energy with meth made it possible to get through the day. He identifies these patients using a line of questioning that proposes hypothetical situations that elicit a particular response.

The other major category of meth user is the person who has attention deficit disorder. He describes these patients as being angry and short-tempered, but often regretful and remorseful of their actions.

Dr. Miller describes these patients as being “dual diagnosed.” The addiction is one diagnosis, and the underlying mental health issue is the other diagnosis. He complains that many addiction specialists only attempt to treat the addiction without giving proper attention to the condition that drives the addiction.

Incredibly, Dr. Miller claims a very high success rate in treating patients for meth addiction. He states that within a short period of time, cravings subside. The meth addict simply no longer needs meth to get through the day. His methods of meth addiction treatment are unique and highly effective.

Strengthening Your Spiritual Core – Practices to Create a Fun and Fulfilling Life: Interview with Kate Eckman | Episode 94

Well-being is a current obsession. When you hear this word, what comes to mind? Fitness? Nutrition? Bliss? A sense of belonging? What is often forgotten in these conversations is our spiritual well-being. For some people this means engagement with their religious traditions and faith communities. For others it is about connecting deeply with nature, the arts or social justice. Still for others, it means contemplative spiritual practices that connect us to a higher power. The common theme throughout all of these practices is a journey to understand ourselves in the context of something much larger and mysterious that invites curiosity, stillness, wonderment, reverence and courage.

In this conversation I speak with Kate Eckman, an elite college athlete, broadcast journalist and TV personality and recent author of “The Full Spirit Workout: A Ten-Step System to Shed Your Self-Doubt, Strengthen Your Spiritual Core, and Create a Fun and Fulfilling Life.” We talk about the neuroscience behind our understanding of well-being — and what gets in our way of achieving and maintaining well-being. We discuss the curious versus the anxious brain and the learning versus the judging brain. We explore the questions of “when is enough, enough?” and “who do we really want to be?” We close with specific strategies on how to tip the scales from immobilizing fear to the ability to “stretch the comfort zone” and “build the emotional muscles.”

About Kate Eckman
Kate Eckman is the author of The Full Spirit Workout: A Ten-Step System to Shed Your Self-Doubt, Strengthen Your Spiritual Core, and Create a Fun and Fulfilling Life. Kristines main focus is advocating for those loved ones left behind after a suicide. Now, like myself, Kristine has turned all of her focus towards these issues, which have sadly become too common in our society.
