Teen mental health is at the center of Beyond Risk and Back podcast, hosted by Aaron Huey on Mental Health News Radio Network
Child Mental Health Center Director Aaron Huey hosts podcast Beyond Risk and Back with co-Host Maia Huey. The podcast aims to support parents by frankly examining teen mental health and addiction. They aim to educate and support clinicians, teachers and parents working with at risk children by openly addressing issues like drug addiction, sexual harassment and family dynamics.
Beyond Risk and Back Host Aaron Huey shares his own story of addiction and recovery to empower and advocate.
He said, “I was a drug addict. I traded everything that was real and important for a big lie. I’ve spent every day since May 21st, 1998 getting it back and keeping it. I regret who I was and I embrace that regret. It pushes me forward.”
Co-Host Maia Huey is a senior at Fort Lewis College in Durango CO and will be graduating with a BA in Marketing in the spring of 2019. She has a passion for purpose branding and is particularly eager to educate people about consent education, sex education, body positivity, and eating disorders
Each week Aaron and Maia interview guests who speak openly about their lived experiences. Recent Beyond Risk and Back episode topics include: Being Cool with Dyslexia, Real Teens, Real Sex, Sticking to Consequences and Making Consequences Stick, and Drug Courts. Episodes air weekly. Beyond Risk and Back can be accessed via Mental Health News Radio Network as well as Apple Podcasts, Stitcher and Spreaker.
