Black Lives Matter: Hope & Unity; A Christian Perspective

We are at a divisive time in our nation. Learning how to help bridge the gap, the hurt and frustration as a white American holds tremendous significance for me. Today’s episode is about listening, learning and doing better as a human race.
My guest today, Art Butler, is a black American with a passion for service, pouring out the love of Christ in both action and word as well as breaking down barriers in some spectacular ways.
Art has served both State-Side and abroad with mission-minded charitable organizations for over 30 years. He is a leader, minister and true ambassador of goodness. God is using him to do amazing things in the lives of others and his heart is evident through today’s episode.
Art’s book, Focused: Understanding the Genius of God in Our Weakness, will be released in 2021 and will be available in bookstores and amazon. Check it out!

Free Pass to Freak Out

Life can be a crazy train. Throw in a pandemic, loss, grief, etc. and our ability to maintain a balanced state of mind can be tough. A great way to maintain realistic expectations of ourselves is by giving ourselves a free pass to freak out.

When we feel overwhelmed, like we’re wearing too many hats, or our hearts are aching…remind yourself that it’s ok to cry, yell in a pillow or go for a run. We all need a healthy, safe way to release when we’re feeling the tug of being overwhelmed.

The message of taking time out to breathe, release and recharge is us loving ourselves as well as sending a clear sign to those around us that we have boundaries and we will at times need personal release.

Check out this week’s episode for the reminder that you’re awesome!

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

n a few short weeks my third book will be released. In this week’s pod, I share a chapter of my book, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
As we continue to be in a time of social distancing, the reminder of the power of kindness and extending ourselves is a message that resonates in this chapter. While in Brasov, Romania, two women exchanged a level of kindness and joy that was life-altering. We didn’t speak the same language, but we spoke with our hearts rather than words.
You can find my books, Peace, Love & Goodness: Lessons from the Drug Lady and A Higher Level of Goodness Chick, on Amazon.

Little BIG Wins

When we enter seasons of our life of personal challenge, trauma, or even, as we’re currently facing, a pandemic it’s learning to give ourselves the ability to celebrate little big wins.
In the midst of a challenging time in life, it’s doing what you can with what you have. Avoiding comparison on social media when it deflates you, sending yourself a message that you’re not accomplishing what someone else seems to be doing seamlessly. Instead, it’s connecting with others who will remind you that you are awesome, that will listen and will encourage during challenging times.
Have a little big win? Reward yourself with a bubble bath, pat yourself on the back, take a breather and never (ever) forget that you are unhinged awesomeness!

Stepping through Fear and into Wellness

Dr. Rachel Gregg is changing lives and making the world a better place as a Gut-Brain Guru & Mental Wellness advocate. Rachel stepped away from a stable, six-figure job as a Pharmacist to pursue her passion in empowering others to not merely live, but thrive. She provides a wealth of knowledge on Holistic healing from a Pharmacist’s perspective.
We look at the reality of fear, how we opt to approach it, and its ability to make us stronger and live more authentically.
Rachel provides amazing insight on strategies we can implement during our time of social distancing. She looks at the connection with our mental wellness with what we eat, our level of physical activity and what we expose ourselves to (what we read, what we listen to, the people in our lives we choose to surround ourselves with – even if that’s through text/ Zoom/ FaceTime, etc.).
It’s taking ownership of our life and getting excited to not merely live, but thrive.

Being The Change We Want To See In The World

Our voices can make a difference in ways that can be difficult to wrap our minds around. This year marks the 21st year since losing my sister, Shana, and her friends, Amanda, Angela and Meg to a drunk driver.
I look at how one person’s voice in speaking up to prevent Melissa Marvin from driving would have altered history in some massive ways. Four more people would still be here.
It’s similar to social distancing right now. We’re in the midst of some crazy times and doing what is right and socially distancing can and will save lives. Speaking up when we see people being selfish and not complying and reminding them, we are all in this together.
Getting inspired and stoked to do what’s right even when it isn’t necessarily convenient is an awesome step. It simply can change the world. Let’s be world changers, my friends 🙂
