Part One of Three

Dr. Boriskin- PTSD, The Basic Tutorial

Dr. Boriskin explains that someone can have an addictive disorder without post-traumatic stress disorder – or PTSD without substance abuse issues – but it’s very common for the conditions to co-occur. In fact, he estimates that more than 80 percent of the military veterans he treats for PTSD also have a substance-abuse disorder.

“The timing of which comes first is irrelevant,” he says. “It’s imperative to come to terms with the addiction first, then start working with the PTSD issue.” He notes that both disorders are difficult to treat, but both respond to similar interventions.

Teens Who Drink

Robb Kelly, PhD is a world-renowned addiction expert who believes in treating the problem, not the symptoms. He has worked for many years helping addicts and alcoholics to RECOVER their lives from the disease of addiction.

Based on his own experiences working with addicts and alcoholics over the last 20 years, combined with a PhD in psychology, and as a recovered alcoholic himself – he is a triple threat against the disease of addiction.

Dr. Kelly’s philosophy may seem unconventional and unorthodox. But, they are based on extensive research and behavior studies that he conducted over the last 20 years. He pulls the disease out of his clients and empowers them to fight their disease head on.

Some people have referred to him as “The Gordon Ramsay of the Addiction World” because of his direct, no-nonsense, and candid approach to recovery. Robb Kelly, PhD has worked with thousands of people including celebrities of film, music, and sports. Stacey Godbold- Recovery Friends

Stacey joins Host Aaron Huey to talk about “The friend group”. Too many parents dislike the kids their child is hanging out with, only to forget that other parents feel the same way about their kid. WHAT IF you take a bunch of troubled kids and put them together while they try to recover? Will they just share the war stories? Will they teach each other about a new way. to use? Can they actually help each other if they all are struggling through? Such a fun episode!
