The Birds and The Bees in Rehab.

Today, I deep dive into the benefits and logistics of sex-positive education with expert Anne Hodder. In this episode, we explore why teens not only need but deserve to have a healthy, honest, and comprehensive physical education.

But how? Anne walks me through how staff and health care professionals can support Residence and teens with this topic and what parents need to know about sexual education and recovery.

The High Level Narcissist's Destructive Cycle of Deceit

Narcissists crowd our world today. They are our spouses, ex-spouses, relatives, bosses, co-workers, spiritual mentors, friends. our society rewards high level narcissists handsomely with praise, adulation, celebrity, wealth, social status. The narcissist’s raison d’etre is winning. As long as he/she achieves his goals, nothing else matters. Personal problems, even those of close family members, are too messy and time consuming. Individuals with this personality disorder are ethically and morally challenged.

Narcissists weave grand visions of success that are designed to lead them to stashes of wealth, power, prestige and control. Winning electrifies the narcissist; it is the engine, the fire that keeps him going. They hire bright talented people to implement their ideas. They take advantage of their assistants by underpaying them and overpromising while they carefully maintain their elite lifestyles.

Above all, the high level narcissist is deceptive in all of his relationships and transactions.

Some narcissistic dreams go astray. The high level narcissist takes the blame off of himself and onto his “underlines.”

Protect yourself from becoming enmeshed in the narcissist’s destructive web. Learn to identify the high level narcissist in your personal and professional life. Steer clear of them if you can. Assert your grounded individuality and strong sense of self. Appreciate who you are. Get the sleep and rest that you deserve; movement and exercise; nourishing food and good hydration, a spiritual practice how you define this, experience of beauty and nature.

Bruce Rose Director at Alcohol Recovery Scotland

Bruce Rose has worked for many years in the rehab industry, managing drug and alcohol treatment centers. A few years ago, Bruce was researching the topic of medication-assisted alcohol treatment and came across information on The Sinclair Method, or TSM. TSM is simply medication-assisted treatment for alcohol use disorder using the medication, naltrexone.

Bruce decided to dedicate his work to supporting clients interested in using this method of addiction treatment that relies on pharmacological extinction. In these past few years, he has seen incredible success with his clients, watching them recover quickly and without the usual issues of severe alcohol withdrawal and alcohol deprivation syndrome.

In this interview with Bruce Rose, we discuss his approach to helping clients with their prescribed alcohol treatment program. We also talk about the future of medical treatment for alcohol and the possible integration of TSM with traditional residential rehab programs.

145 – Ryan Herrick – Spirit in All Things, Music and Healing

“It takes serious dedication to kind of chip away at rules and the contracts that we’ve picked up over our life that we didn’t get to choose.” ~Ryan Herrick

Healer, humanitarian, and homebuilder Ryan Herrick wears many hats. But the topper that compliments every aspect of his life best is the one labeled musician.

The ongoing pandemic has forced Ryan to explore alternate methods of delivering his sonic magic and his interdisciplinary approach to healing. He recently produced Of Sea, a collection of new music dropping February 12, out of a desire to connect through difficult times. In this episode, Ryan shares his music with us, as well as the pandemic-prompted lessons reminding him of what it means to be fully human.

“As therapists-slash-healers, we are often the perceiver and the perceived. We’re kind of going through this process of, like, self-work which is never-ending.” Ryan’s words echo the spirit fostered in every Wounded Healer episode: leaning into the dynamic joys (and, often, pain) of healing self while healing others.

When lockdown prevented him from live gigging, Ryan recorded Of Sea in response. He also began a weekly morning practice via Facebook. There, he invites listeners to log on as they are and experience sound as they choose – for meditation, for yoga, for background, for healing. “As performers, as artists, we’re often wounded, people… Music has such a unique way of permeating a mental, emotional, spiritual experience. That’s the potential of music.”

His simple acknowledgement of that power wrecked me a bit, y’all. Listen in for a sample of Ryan’s beautiful, vibrational medicine.

Ryan Herrick is a musician, humanitarian, spiritual activist, teacher, healer and homebuilder. Based in North Chicagoland by way of New England, Ryan sojourned to the Midwest to deepen his work as a healer and clairvoyant with Judi Hendricks in 2015. No matter the task, Ryan seeks Spirit in all things, and his expanded perspective helps him create, teach, and heal from a cleaner, more neutral space of compassion. He loves dogs, the outdoors, psychology, and carries a deep passion for Native American rights and advocacy.

Ryan’s new EP, Of Sea, will be available everywhere on Friday, Feb 12th.

Greta Gar Bitch: Open to Where Life Takes You

Join Kimber Leigh and Kristin for a discussion about many things including her best selling book Greta Gar Bitch.

Greta Gar~BITCH is the true story of a young girl growing up in a family with extreme dysfunction. Enduring daily physical and emotional abuse that was fueled by alcohol, sex, and drugs. The severity of abuse caused two of the four youngest children to commit suicide as their only way out six months apart from the other. In another six months, the mother committed suicide by ingesting a gallon of vodka a day, with a variety of prescription meds. When the mother’s body could no longer keep up with this cycle of drinking and drugging, her death left this family in their darkest hours.

At the tender age of seven, Kimber Leigh listened to the stories told to her by her grandfather, about the famed Hollywood actress from the 1930s, Greta Garbo. Kimber’s grandfather said, “You are going to be just like her when you grow up.” When Kimber shared his words with her mother, her mother’s reply was, “Sweetheart, you will never be anything but a BITCH… a Greta GarBITCH!”

Kimber’s life was left in turmoil after years of suffering physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother and others.

This book reveals what turned Kimber’s life around, so she was able to lead a life of miracles, peace, love, and forgiveness. These experiences taught Kimber how to understand the real ‘game of life’ leading her to find true love, all the while witnessing endless miracles along her life’s long journey.

Great Gar~BITCH will explain how YOU can live a miraculous life. People will witness your growth and say, WOW!

Kimber Leigh is a highly respected actress, model, producer, television host, spokesperson, and master of ceremonies. She is well steeped in the Arizona cinema scene, whilst residing on the Big Island of Hawaii with her husband. … Kimber has also received a Gold Hermes and a Telly Award for her work in journalism.
